A Ron Ficathon where Everyone's a Winner!
Team Gen: A Drop of Red
1st-Mar-2007 11:48 am
Story title: A Drop of Red
Author name: approximedic
Team: Team Gen
Prompt: ' Memory'
Rating: PG
Pairings/Characters: Ron Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Harry Potter
Warnings: Character Death
Length: 3170
Summary: What you remember and what actually happened are two things which rarely coincide. Ron finally realises what he had done, the day the prophecy was fulfilled.

Author notes: This is definitely the weirdest prophecy theory I've ever had and came to me when I was sleep deprived, incredibly stressed and craving chocolate. A whole lotta love goes to chesnutella who listened to all the complaining I did about the plot holes and gave helpful and not so helpful suggestions that at least kept me entertained and stopped me trying to kill off all my characters in a fit of writer's wrath. Long live teh Gen! : )

Chilling. Ron! OMG, of course he didn't do it! And Neville. And Harry. But... Ron! DAMN, powerful piece, for sure.

You made me cry. Damn you. OMG! Dude, I can't believe you did that. Neville! and yeah, okay Ron too, but Neville! You twisted him and poor Ron had to pay. I'm still in shock over Neville.

Okay, I think I'm coherent now. Maybe. I loved the conclusion at the end and how it unfolded. I'll admit I was a little confused at the start by you really had me by the end. And I absolutely love the interpretation of the prophecy, so so much.

This is heartbreaking!

Very interesting take on the prophecy and on Neville.

I do think (hope) that there will be some very hard choices to be made in the end. I am sure that someone will have to do something unimaginable. You have captured something really complex here. Well done!

That was an extremely intriguing fic, and a great take on the prophecy. I liked the fractured writing and the perspective shifts very much – they really illustrate the confusion and fears inside Ron's head. And it gives the reader something to puzzle over and piece together, which is my favourite type of fic altogether. Also, it used the prompt admirably!

The imagery, especially at the beginning, was very beautiful, although capitalisation (and punctuation) were a bit erratic at times.

And Ron's emotions were extremely vivid, from his confusion at the beginning, to the wonderful scene with Neville and Fawkes (I think his forgiveness at that moment rang all my bells at once- that was sheer beauty, and sad at the same time).

I loved the Sirius-scene even if don't think I've completely figured it out yet, and the atmosphere and plot so much – wonderful story!

This was really fantastic. Very dark and a little creepy. Ron was excellent in his confusion and innocence, that he couldn't even do the deed in the end b/c of his love for his friend. Excellent job!
