Oh this broke my heart! Again, another story that uses a completely different and unique POV but works it well and manages to convey all that was Ron in a pensieve. Malfoy was creepy as hell from the start, but his presence is accutely felt throughout the scenes in the pensieve. Harry is heartwrenching in his desperation to catch any last glimpse of his best friend. Guh, excellent job!

Thanks - I'm so glad you liked it! It's weird though, as soon as I sat down to write Ron!fic, everybody but him turned up and wanted to tell his story...

I loved this. I might not have read it if someone else had written it - not being a great Ron fan, after all! - but I'm glad I noticed it. Great use of the Pensieve (oddly similar to one I never finished: I'll have to send you the excerpt so you can laugh at it!!) and a great twist at the end, too. I never saw it coming. *kicks self*

It seems I must work harder on spreading the Ron!love then :). On the upside, I'm happy it worked for you even though he's not really your character. And yes, I'd be curious abouta your Pensieve fic, unfinished or not (fandom really taught me that there *is* such a thing as coincidence when it comes to themes!). Thank you! *hugs*

*whimper* That... it was so beautiful, so sad and joyful and beautiful in its .... I'm incoherent with the beautiful ache.

Thanks so much for the lovely feedback - I live to hurt ;).

I completely loved this. Lovely, just lovely. You language really drew me in and wrapped itself around my mind. I was captivated.

I think this is a brilliant and creative use of the prompt -- and a brilliant and creative use of the ideas of both Pensieves and Dementors. I think this is a wonderful way to explore Ron -- through his moments of joy and through Harry's feelings about those moments.

Draco was a very nice touch.

So very well done!

Oh! This was wonderful - so full of love and joy, despite the heartbreaking setting, and beautifully written. One of the best stories I've read in ages.

*blushes madly*
Thanks so much!

Wow.... I am seriously speechless with love for this fic. My heart feels bruised after reading it- a good thing, really!

Thanks so much for this. I'm going to be thinking about this for the rest of the day....

Thank *you* so much for the kind words! I'm glad it managed to bruise you - well, you know what I mean ;).

What a marvelous, heartbreaking story! Just the very idea of this story is awesome. I loved it!

Ron's memories as a way to characterize Ron was beautifully done. Ron and the fairy, Ron with Sirius, Ron and the big game, Ron thinking of Harry as his brother *sobs*, and later Ron with Hermione. I enjoyed them all.

Draco was extremely well done; his manner and attitude, bitter and sad. :( It broke my heart that he was a ghost, but it made perfect sense. Ron sacrificing himself is so Ron. *cries* I love that Draco was haunting the shop, waiting for Harry to arrive and take the memories. I hope it means that Draco can rest in peace now. :((

I admire the structure of the story too. It was a very fast read, and I think that was due to the way the reader moved back and forth between Ron's memories and the present day of Harry and Draco.

This story will stick with me a while. Thank you!

Wow, you're the loveliest! Thanks so much for the uplifting comments!

I love that Draco was haunting the shop, waiting for Harry to arrive and take the memories.
Yay, so glad that bit came across! Draco *would* make for a cranky, impatient ghost, I think ;).

It was a very fast read
This made me so happy - I wrote it all over the place and added in the connecting scenes after, so I was worried about there not being a coherent pull to it.

What a gorgeous, heartbreaking story. There were so many wonderful moments in this, but I think the chess scene with Sirius was my favorite. Beautiful work. Thank you.
7th-Mar-2007 10:31 pm (UTC)
The Sirius scene was my favourite too, so I'm glad it came across :). And it inspired me to start a Ron/Sirius piece, so my inner slasher did not stay quiet for long :D.

Amazing. Really haunting. Malfoy was great in this, but of course seeing Ron, his moments. I liked how you did that, so that Harry can really feel how it felt, that little moments for Ron was so precious to hiim.

Wonderful as always.

Thanks for the lovely feedback! *hugs*

So much sadness, even behind Ron's joys. Oh. My. Frog.

I love that Draco did something for himself that actually did good for someone else as well, instead of sitting there in spite and refusing, as he'd have done in school.

I also love that Ron and Hermione finally had their moment. I'm afraid they won't get it, in Book 7.
7th-Mar-2007 10:28 pm (UTC)
Thanks so much, and to your frog too :D! Yes, I think Draco did quite a bit of growing up with HBP... And somehow Ron/Hermione is growing on me rapidly.
8th-Mar-2007 11:28 pm (UTC) - Amazing!
I know voting is over but I will leave a comment anyway.

This is a very good story! It was heart breaking and full of joy simulateously and the end just gave me chills!

Thanks so much, dear!
9th-Mar-2007 09:58 am (UTC) - Happy Birthday, Hijja ! <3
Oh my...

I feel a bit stunned.
I was completely sucked into this story, from the first descriptions of Knockturn Alley/Borgin and Burkes.

Ron's memories are fantastically-evoked.
I loved your take on canon events but my favourite one was the infant memory, set in the Weasley garden with the magical fairy. That was simply beautiful.

The tension that came from not knowing exactly what Malfoy's motivations were was brilliant too.
You know I am a huge Draco fan, but when he faded away, you made me forget about my bias -- I was simply sad, not just for Draco, but for the entirety of Harry's generation that had been sacrificed in the War.

Sharp, taut, compelling writing throughout.
*saves in pensieve memories*

Thank you for a wonderful read :)

Thanks *so* much! I went into the B&B scene with 'now let's try for atmosphere', so I'm glad it worked :). The fairy started out as its own story, but then it felt too short (and way too fluffy for my taste) to try and sell as its own fic... Even though it'd have fitted the prompt better.

I was simply sad, not just for Draco, but for the entirety of Harry's generation that had been sacrificed in the War
That sums it up wonderfully - I felt horribly sorry for all four of them.

I have to tell you I was really looking forward to your entry. You never - never - disappoint.

This was heartbreakingly beautiful.

I am a little broken now.

Outstanding job.

I live to break! Thanks so much for the lovely response :). Though admittedly I found it pretty weird during the writing, and am quite happy that people seem to like it.

I love this fic. Utterly and completely. I sit here with salt tears drying on my face, not from sorrow, but from joy. You can only achieve this kind of joy when something balances it out - how would you know joy but for sorrow. I was swept in by the second person POV, entranced and made greedy, wanting only to dip back into the bottle of joy. And the end - oh yes. This fic is not one word too much, but enough.
15th-Mar-2007 08:17 pm (UTC)
You had me blushing like mad with that lovely reply! I started off with the fairy scene as its own fic, but the darker side just crept in. As you said, there has to be balance...
Thanks for making my day with your feedback - thanks!
