And in the waxing warmth of morning, Ron opens his eyes and breathes one word. Reverently.

Harry.

Love! What a fantastic and original plot. A really excellent character study of Ron (sigh- he's so wonderful), and so many lovely details. : )

I'm so pleased you liked this so well. Thank you!! (isn't he so wonderful? *sighs with you*) ♥

Wow--this is bloody brilliant! ;D
SO much love for this fic!

The line about the list making was great, and I also *sporfled* over,
It's like he's a fucking drop cloth.

"form of... a coffee table!"

The discovery process was wonderful, and Ron's double deja-vu self Obliviation was a great plot element.
*memories*

Very nice.

I actually thought you were heading somewhere much more tragic. The happy ending was a pleasant surprise.

I particularly liked how overwhelming the emotional memories were.
15th-Mar-2007 01:20 am (UTC)
I nearly did head somewhere tragic, actually, but I just can't do it. In my mind, Ron is just... irreplaceable and it's so hard to imagine him in tragedy.

Thank you so much! ♥

I liked this immensely.

Ron's amnesia is described extremely well, especially with the tiny hints threwn in at his past, and him being very much a boy – I loved in particular
Ron looks down at the list (in his best handwriting, no less!) and has a strong feeling that someone he used to know would approve of this method. and
Plus, he needs a reason to try out that sword. (he would!)
The self-examination was wonderful, and very funny at the same time, and first use of the 'stick' was hysterical. I adored this to bits:
Great. So now he's an amnesiac with personified furniture smarter than he is.

I was wondering why Ron didn't try going outside and talking to people there, but it made perfect sense as the story progressed – because Ron's amnesia had a *purpose* and was so ingrained into him that even out of his mind he tried everything to protect Harry. I loved the solution, both the way it all falls together and makes sense, and especially Ron's absolute dedication to Harry, that sort of unconditional love and loyalty, and, of course, his fighting spirit.

The story captures so much that just... *is* Ron, and I loved it – true, cleverly plotted, and extremely well written to keep up tension and with a dash of humour too. Just great!

I'll admit that I did a little leap of joy to know that you enjoyed this -- your story for this fest is still one of my favorites, even after reading more than 30 of them.

You really seem to have noticed all the little details that meant a lot to me as I was writing (not sure if people would notice) -- and yes, yes, this: Ron's amnesia had a *purpose* and was so ingrained into him that even out of his mind he tried everything to protect Harry. is a very good synthesis of what I was thinking... that there are certain things that transcend memory and spells and attempts to *mess* with what exists, and Ron is a good example of this.

Thank you so much -- you really made my day! ♥

Interesting fic and great use of the prompt. You hooked me right from the start and it may be my fav of the slash fic so far. Brilliant that Ron erased his own memory to save the day. And I thought the little nod to Hermione was cute:

Ron looks down at the list (in his best handwriting, no less!) and has a strong feeling that someone he used to know would approve of this method.

Thank you so much! I'm glad it hooked you in so well and that you enjoyed it so much. ♥ And I'm so glad so many people are catching the Hermione line. ♥

Since I beta'ed, you know already how much I was quite moved by this story. I'll say it again, though: you are a master in writing with delicate sparsity, conveying much without being flagrant in your descriptions and explanations… and yet, somehow, your stories tend to be lush. I have to shake my head, because I don't know how you do that!! Luckily I get to simply read and enjoy, and for your wordcraft and for YOU, gorgeous one, I am grateful.

Just a couple of things to quote back on this reread:

Protect above all others. Don't think. And, fight!

That is the most canon!Ron thing I can imagine him taking as his own personal charge, the message that would pulse in his blood. It gives me shivers just thinking of him scrawling it before doing what he knows he absolutely must do.

when there is no longer restraint, but the full, utter force of perfect release, Ron cries out non-words into the blistering air and sears the memory of this into his bare skin.

Sentences like that make me teary, and I'm so pragmatic and often Vulcan-ish... but your eloquence there just makes me ache. (and wish that I'd written it, lol!!)

Fandom is made more rich thanks to your beautiful offerings like this story.

writing with delicate sparsity, conveying much without being flagrant in your descriptions and explanations… and yet, somehow, your stories tend to be lush

that is LOVELY feedback. Seriously. I think I do know what you mean, though. I've often read something where there is such sparse language, and yet I'm completely struck by how vivid it is.

After I wrote what Ron scrawled on the mirror, I'd gone to get something. I saw my reflection in the window and sort of flashed back to that and him, and how STRONG he is, even when he doesn't even believe it himself.

*hugs you tightly*

I always treasure your feedback so. ♥ *much love* thank you.

This was gorgeous. I love the sly bits of humor you injected into this piece, like Ron's freckles reminding him of a drop cloth, and I loved the simplicity of your storytelling. Beautiful work, as always:)

Oh, thank you so much! I love that Ron can inject humor, even when things might seem bleak. ♥!!!

Very nicley done.

This is so wonderful. I loved how far Ron was willing to go for Harry because that is so exactly how it should be. And the way you wrote Ron dealing with the aftermath of his own Obliviate was just heartbreaking but so perfect. Your Ron was incredible all around really, and this was truly a beautiful story. ♥
18th-Mar-2007 12:41 pm (UTC)
Isn't it amazing what (we know) Ron will do for Harry? Thank you so much for your feedback, and I'm so pleased you enjoyed this! ♥

This is absolutely gorgeous and absolutely Ron. I love all the detail and I love the simplicity and GAH it is just a beautiful piece of work. The Ron/Harry is to DIE for. The giant pillow is a nice touch. :)
